The Hammond Ridge trail system at NEOC offers a thoughtfully designed network of singletrack mountain bike trails that wind through the forests beneath Katahdin, blending smooth, beginner-friendly riding with more technical flow and gravity lines for experienced riders. Built with a mix of natural terrain and crushed gravel surfaces, these trails provide an accessible yet dynamic riding experience for all skill levels. In the winter months, the experience continues as select trails are groomed for fat tire biking, allowing riders to explore the same scenic terrain on packed snow, extending the riding season into Maine’s colder months.

Hammond Ridge lies along the south shore of Millinocket Lake, with direct views of Katahdin and surrounding peaks. You won’t find a more stunning landscape to ride through in the Northeast! The trail system on-site of NEOC began in 2015, and has been steadily growing since.
Trails offer riders a mix of shared-use and bike-only singletrack experiences, mixing classic cross-country style ascents with flowy and technical gravity lines. A combination of natural surface and crushed gravel tread surfaces ensures riders can find trails to enjoy regardless of the weather or experience level.
Access the Hammond Ridge Trail System from the main parking area at Knife Edge Brewing from the NEOC Adventure Center (200 Katahdin View Dr, Millinocket, ME 04462).

Fat Tire Biking | Year-Round
Fat-tire biking at NEOC is a year-round experience, offering a unique way to explore the trail network in every season. In the warmer months, riders can cruise along singletrack trails with ease, while winter transforms the experience entirely. By switching to studded snow tires, our fat bikes deliver exceptional grip and performance on packed snow, opening up a whole new way to ride across our groomed trail network.
Fat tire bike rentals are available year-round, with sizing ranging from young children to adults. Helmets are included and required with all rentals.
$40 half day • $60 per full day
