Other Winter Activities

Our New England resort has fun for the entire family.

Cross Country Skiing
The New England Outdoor Center is located just miles from the south entrance of Baxter State Park and Mt. Katahdin and provides plenty of terrain for cross country skiing. Hiking trails quickly become blanketed with snow and provide for a great trek through the woods or out in the open wilderness.

Skiers can also enjoy their stay with friends and family in one of our convenient lodging options. Our cozy cabins or new Coveside Guest Houses offer modern amenities in a rustic setting.

Kids enjoy the thrill of catching their first fish.

Ice Fishing
Ice fishing is very popular in Maine and we’re proud to offer our guests the opportunity to fish on the variety of local ponds and lakes in the region including Millinocket Lake, Millimagassett Lake and Long Lake. Last year, one salmon weighed in at nine pounds. Opening day for ice fishing is January 1st. Join us on a guided ice fishing excursion and all equipment (augers, jack traps, bait, etc.) is provided. Or bring your personal supplies and tools to and enjoy the winter bounty of our lakes and ponds on your own.

Snowshoeing in Maine
Whether you step forward with a hardwood frame and rawhide lacings or with a more modern shoe, the wide open terrain at New England Outdoor Center will provide hours of unlimited exploring and adventure.

Baxter State Park is one of Maine's wild and untouched places. It offers miles of navigable trails to admire Maine's rugged, natural beauty.
