Canvas cabin tents.
The Penobscot Outdoor Center (POC) is the base lodge for our wilderness rafting resort. It includes great vacation amenities including: a bar, lite munchies, continental breakfast, canoes, volleyball, large group firepit and individual site fire rings. Many sites offer amazing views of Katahdin and paddling on Pockwockamus Pond. The campground features deluxe camping options: campsites, canvas cabin tents (2 and 4 person) and bunkhouses. We are the closest lodging and camping to Baxter State Park.
The 60 acres of campground are located on Pockwockamus Pond, 2 miles from the South Entrance to Baxter State Park and just 20 miles outside of the town of Millinocket.
The Penobscot Outdoor Center is also our whitewater rafting base lodge for the Penobscot River.

You can cook your own food or drive six miles up the road to the River Drivers restaurant and pub.

Some might not call it “camping,” but it is rustic and provides
a level of comfort beyond a traditional tent. Designed comfortably
for up to 4 people, our bunkhouses come complete with wood walls,
windows with screens, a metal & glass door, solar lighting, 4 bunks with mattresses
and a weatherproof metal roof. They also have a picnic table and fire ring on-site.
