Guided Summer Activities

This summer visitors to the Katahdin Region are invited to participate in any of our special programming we've designed to highlight our local landscape. Activities are listed below

Please call our reservation office at 207-723-5438 to reserve your space. Participants in a position to do so may be asked to utilize their own vehicles to access hiking trail heads. All activities begin at Twin Pine Camps.

Guided Canoe Exploration:

The vast system of rivers and lakes is a dynamic and spectacular way to explore Maine and what better way to do that then in a canoe. Come learn the basics from the parts of the boat to a few strokes. We will have you on the water paddling in no time! Appropriate for ages 8 & up.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Tuesdays: 10am, June 26th-August 28th

Twin Pine Guest: $15.00pp plus access fees for applicable trips
Non-Guest: $39.00pp plus access fees for applicable trips

Kayaking Millinocket Lake:

Water sports are at the very heart of the New England Outdoor Center's heritage. We use touring kayaks for stability and ease so all levels can join us on this jaunt! Appropriate for ages 8 & up.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Sunday & Thursday: 10am June 28th-August 30th

Hike to the Ice Caves:

Join us for a exploration of the Debsconeag Wilderness Area. This moderate 2.5 mile hike offers spectacular views of Katahdin and the surrounding lake district. We will explore the local ecology, landscape and cultural history as we make our way to the ice caves and down in to them! Appropriate for ages 8 & up. While this trail is not steep, it is rugged and requires strong ankles and sturdy shoes.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Hike to Blueberry Ledges:

We're headed to Baxter State Park! This easy 3 mile hike is an accessible introduction to our nearest neighbor. Come learn about the history of the park, landscape and have fun. This hike highlights beautiful exposed, granite ledges from a historic fire as well unique water features, falls and slides. Appropriate for ages 8 & up.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Saturdays & Wednesday: 9am June 27th-August 29th
