Today’s weather started with rain, but when it came time for the wildlife moose tour, the sun came out to shine. We saw beavers, loons, geese, ducks, blue heron, and a pileated wood pecker. We saw this all from a fabulous pontoon boat ride on Millinocket Lake!

The moose have been elusive lately, but today’s tour showed us a cow and her calf feeding in a pond!  The group also saw some merganser ducks.

We had a morning and evening tour today.  The morning tour saw loons, ducks and blue heron on the lake.   I think the rain kept the animals in hiding for the evening tour, unfortunately, but the group enjoyed a scenic walk in the woods and some nice outdoor photo opts between the rain drizzle.

We traveled by pontoon boat this evening and didn’t find moose, but saw loons, ducks, and a blue heron.    We will keep looking for moose next time!

The morning’s moose tour, though chilly, provided the perfect conditions for several Maine wildlife to appear. Herons fished along the banks of Millinocket lake!
