You won't need an eagle eye to enjoy a great bird watching vacation in Maine.

The New England Outdoor Center rewards bird watchers with an abundance of nearby choices that add up to a gratifying birdwatching vacation in Maine. Nesting eagles have recently been seen right on our resort. You'll also see loons, osprey, Canada geese and great blue heron.

Just up the road in Baxter State Park, Bicknell's Thrush Three-toed and Black-backed Woodpeckers can be found at Mt. Katahdin. To the south, enjoy great Maine bird watching at Hirundo Wildlife Refuge or Sunkhaze Meadows, a breeding habitat for black ducks, hooded mergansers, blue-winged teal, and ring-necked ducks. You'll also see marsh wrens, thrushes, and even Nelson's sharp-tailed sparrows and American bitterns.

Other area birds include boreal and woodland warblers, yellow-bellied flycatchers, finches, crossbills, and golden-crowned kinglets. Other options for your bird watching vacation include the Maine Penobscot Valley Audubon Center and Eagle Island, Maine.
