Maine Moose Tours Report

Once again, our guide Paul had taken our morning and afternoon tours with lots of luck! As the group was traveling into Baxter, on the way they encountered 2 bulls and 1 cow, and on the way out of the park the three were still there! What a morning that was!! The afternoon tour traveled back into Baxter and on the way had seen another bull moose!

This evening we had a guest appearance by our Maine guide, Val who gathered a group of 6 and took them into Baxter State Park and to Sunday Pond. Along the way they saw 6 mergansers, a blue jay, a beaver and 3 squirrels.

On this foggy morning our Maine guide, Bob and 2 guests jumped in the Ktaadn Resorts van and ventured into Baxter State Park to Sandy Stream Pond and Stump Pond. The late fall foliage was beautiful and they were able to see a ruffed grouse and a blue jay.

What a lovely fall day it was here at Twin Pines and Paul was happy to bring his group of 9 out on the lake for our last boat tour of the season. The sun was shining and Katahdin was standing proud over Millinocket Lake as the group headed towards Big Mud Brook. They saw a bald eagle, some cormorants and mallards along with several geese traveling South for the winter. Van tours are available until the end of October.

It was a brisk evening tonight and Paul was back behind the wheel of the Ktaadn Resorts pontoon boat with another full boat of 12. As they headed towards Big Mud Brook they encountered loons and mallards along with some geese.

This evening our Maine guide, Paul and a full boat of 12 guests set out on Millinocket Lake heading for Big Mud Brook. Along the way they saw lots of mallards and got a little wet from a sudden rain shower but it was well worth it as the group was delighted to see not 1 but 2 moose! Paul is knocking it out of the park!

Our newest Wildlife Tour Guide, Paul has had some good fortune on his recent Watchable Wildlife tours. The guests on October 9 took a Pontoon Boat excursion to Mud Brook…sightings included Loons, Mallard ducks, & Geese (on their way south maybe..). Paul’s tour on Oct. 10 into Sandy Stream Pond in Baxter State Park hit pay dirt…Common Mergansers AND according to Paul…”The BIGGEST Moose Evah”..Well done Paul!!

It was a rainy morning in the Katahdin Region and our Maine guide, Paul ushered his 6 guests onto the Ktaadn Resorts van en route for Baxter State Park and Sandy Stream Pond. The sightings today were few due to the weather however they were able to see a loon and a mallard.

It was a beautiful fall day here at Twin Pines and Paul took full advantage of that by getting both tours out on the lake. In the morning he loaded 6 guests onto the pontoon boat and set sail for Big Mud Brook where they saw 3 geese and 11 mallards. A few hours later Paul was at it again with a full boat of 12 guests. As they glided across Millinocket Lake they were able to see a bald eagle, 8 loons, many mallards and a beaver. The beautiful fall colors around Katahdin were a sight to see as well.

On our evening wildlife tour our Maine guide, Paul had a full boat of 11 as he motored across the lake on the way to Big Mud Brook. Once again they saw a lot of birds including a cormorant, 5 loons along with mallards and geese.

Today we had a morning and evening wildlife tour and they were both for the birds. On our morning tour with our guide, Paul at the wheel of the Ktaadn Resorts pontoon boat the 6 guests on board encountered a bald eagle, lots of geese and mallards, 5 cormorant and a belted kingfisher. Later on in the day we enlisted Ken as our guide and he took 7 guests out on Millinocket Lake where they saw lots of geese, a cormorant, both mallards and wood ducks and loons.

On this beautiful, calm evening, Paul and 4 guests took advantage of the summer like weather and headed out on Millinocket Lake to see the sights. They saw an eagle and 7 mallards along with the beauty of Katahdin with the colorful leaves all around.
