While our resorts offer plenty of heart pumping excitement as only Maine white water adventures can, there are other activities in the Millinocket and Katahdin Region that are also fun to discover.
Nightlife
After the sun goes down, the fun continues for our guests at many of the local pubs and restaurants. A variety of local popular hangouts, pub and restaurants provide the perfect location to share some laughs, tell fish tales and recap your day and get ready for the next one.
For some authentic North woods flavor, take the entire family for pizza and burgers at the locals' top pick — The Scootic Inn. Or, savor a local brew and listen to live music at The Blue Ox Saloon. Both are near our own River Drivers Restaurant at our Penobscot base and campground resort. You can also visit the new American Loggers restaurant, operated by Pelletier family, whose family legacy of logging is featured on Discovery Channel's American Loggers program.

The Golden Road offers scenic beauty and spectacular views of Mount Katahdin and an appreciation for the historic road that remains active for logging companies use on a daily basis. The Golden Road is private, but open to provide public access to the Penobscot River and the Maine North Woods. This road may be traveled on a daily basis, but cautiously, (staying to the right side of the road) and drivers should be on the look out for logging trucks.
