Maine shopping. Where you'll make those rare discoveries.
While you won't find an abundance of chain store shopping near our resorts (we find this kind of refreshing) the quaint things you do find will definitely be one-of-a-kind.
The Memories of Maine Gallery in Millinocket features the work of local artist Jean McClain. Maine is also known for some of the finest Antiquing in the country.
The North Light Gallery owned by Marsha and Wayne in Millinocket showcases the works of artists who paint, sculpt and draw fine art of Mt. Katahdin, the Katahdin Region and the interior landscapes of Maine. This place is definitely worth a visit and is on your way to Twin Pines and Baxter State Park. www.artnorthlight.com
When in the Katahdin Region, food and beverage shopping is recommended at the Pangburn Family IGA
on Central Street (Route 157) in Millinocket. This is a full service complete grocery and liquor store.
And of course, there's always the chance of finding something special for sale along a New England country road. In fact, in Skowhegan on Rt 201 on the way to and from our Kennebec River Base, Madelyn's Flea Market buys and sells antiques on over an acre of land! In Fairfield Maine, north of Waterville, you'll find both Connor-Bovie House Antiques and the Fairfield Antiques Mall. |
